- 2 tbsp Kashmiri/Himalayan green tea
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 2 star anise
- 2 crushed cardamom pods
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 cups whole milk
- Sugar or honey to taste
- Crushed nuts for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add the green tea and let it boil for about 5 minutes.
- Stir in baking soda and continue boiling for another 2 minutes until the water turns deep red.
- Add star anise, cardamom pods, and cinnamon stick; boil for another minute.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes until reduced by half.
- Stir in salt and mix well.
- Gradually pour in whole milk while stirring constantly until it comes to a boil and turns pink.
- Strain into cups to remove spices and tea leaves.
- Sweeten with sugar or honey as desired.
- Garnish with crushed nuts if using.
