  • 3/4 cup hot water
  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup Dulce de Leche
  • 2 oz dark chocolate
  • 2 oz heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round baking pans.
  2. In a bowl, sift together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together vegetable oil, buttermilk, hot water, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed; avoid overmixing.
  5. Divide batter between prepared pans and bake for about 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
  7. For frosting: Beat butter and brown sugar until fluffy; mix in dulce de leche and melted dark chocolate until smooth.
  8. Assemble by layering cake with frosting in between and on top.
