Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Tbsp. softened butter
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1/2 white onion, finely diced
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • pepper, to taste
  • 1 pack dinner rolls, 12 count (I use King's Hawaiian Savory Butter Rolls)
  • 16 slices American cheese (I use Boar's Head)
  • 3 Tbsp. butter, melted
  • pinch of salt and garlic powder
  • 2 tsp. white sesame seeds
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp. sweet pickle relish
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. distilled white vinegar
  • salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Butter a baking sheet and set aside. Sauté onions in olive oil until soft, then add ground beef and cook until browned.
  3. Stir in garlic, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  4. Slice dinner rolls in half and place the bottoms on the baking sheet.
  5. Layer with cheese slices, the beef mixture, and more cheese on top before covering with the top halves of the rolls.
  6. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds before baking for 12–15 minutes until golden.
  7. Prepare the burger sauce by mixing mayonnaise, ketchup, relish, sugar, vinegar, salt, and pepper.
