  • 1 loaf (12-14 oz) French bread, sourdough, or challah
  • 8 oz full-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups whole milk
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cubed

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan. Cut the bread into 1-inch cubes and layer half in the pan.
  2. In a mixer, beat cream cheese until smooth, then mix in confectioners' sugar and vanilla. Spoon over the bread cubes and top with remaining bread.
  3. Whisk eggs, milk, cinnamon, and brown sugar in a bowl; pour evenly over the bread layers.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours or overnight.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Prepare crumble topping by mixing brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and cold butter until crumbly; sprinkle on top.
  6. Bake uncovered for 45–55 minutes until golden brown.
